Signs
of Body Image Dissatisfaction:
Over or under-estimating size of
body
Talks about feeling "fat" or "ugly"
Talks negatively about parts of body
Worries about being too small or too large
Is ashamed or embarrassed by appearance, size, height, physical maturity
"Overdoes it" with physical activity
Restricts food intake
Signs of Eating Problems:
Excessive concern about weight,
shape, and calories
Feeling "fat" when not overweight
Guilt or shame about eating
Strict avoidance of certain foods, particularly those considered "fattening"
Unusual eating habits
Irregular menstrual periods or loss of menstrual periods
Mood swings or irritability
Noticeable weight loss (may be associated with Anorexia)
Frequent weight fluctuations (may be associated with Bulimia) |
